Executive Director of Los Angeles Youth Arts Organization Nathaniel Lewis, in a collaborative relationship with California State University Dominguez Hills, has recently completed negotiations offering students college credit, for completing one season of marching with City Sound Drum and Bugle Corps (Drum Corps International “DCI” Member and a division of Los Angeles Youth Arts Organization)
For those who have always wanted to march in a DCI Drum and Bugle Corps, or engulf themselves in the creation of instrumental music and dance, this is the perfect opportunity to thoroughly explore the incredible possibilities, and the long term knowledge of music and marching, all while enhancing every student’s musical abilities and indoctrinating a sense of self-discipline during the corps summer tour and continuing through the fall pursuing their own professional career goals at the university.

City Sound Performs at the world famous Beverly Hilton, home of the Golden Globes
And the Golden Globe goes to.....City Sound Drum and Bugle corps for their rendition of Marc Anthonys "Hasta Que Vuelvas Conmigo", played onstage before a star studded crowd at the Beverly Hilton Hotel (home of the Golden Globes) that raised 1.4 million dollars, and filled with film and television stars, as well as Los Angeles city officials, including LA's Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, Conan O'Brien, and many more. The Annual Dinner is one of the largest fundraisers of the year held at the Beverly Hilton. The event brings some of the entertainment industry’s most influential and talented people together, in order to raise critical funds necessary for “The Alliance for Children's Rights”.
This organization was formed to provide free legal services to thousands of abused and neglected children here in Los Angeles. City Sound opened the show with their now large drum-line, marching through the crowd, to the stage, with the horn-line marching in from backstage at the same time. This was not a small event by any means, this event was lit for a major Hollywood production, including hundreds of studio lights overhead, television cameras, paparazzi, and City Sounds newly formed staff of professional instructors garnering a roaring applause. Even though it's still early in the season for corps to be performing, Nate Lewis Corps Director vowed to get a jump on the 2013 season with hopes to eventually become a force to be reckoned with in the drum corps world.
For many years City Sound was known as the corps from LA's inner city, well, that is no more and are now known as “LA's Drum Corps”., with an actual drum corps class including college credit at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Along with that title comes a practice facility literally fit for the elite, on the beach in San Pedro CA.
